Out of the 37,915 Product Manager jobs listed on LinkedIn, only 935 are specific to AI PM roles. That’s just 2.4%, but these roles are at top companies like TikTok, Google, and Nvidia.
AI PM roles have already surpassed some popular PM specializations, such as Platform PMs (1.3%) and are comparable to Growth PMs (2.7%).
AI PMs not only have more opportunities but also higher earning potential. In fact, AI PMs tend to earn more across all levels, from entry to the highest-paying roles. For instance, Netflix recently posted an AI PM position offering up to $900K.
In short: AI PMs get paid more and are in higher demand.

There are 3 main types of PMs building with AI:
- Core Product PMs
- Integrate AI into their existing product - Growth Product PMs
- Use AI to optimize product performance - AI PMs
- Manage AI models or lead AI-focused teams
Each PM type interacts with AI differently, but what’s exciting is how AI can be applied on 3 levels:
- Use AI to enhance an existing feature.
- Develop a new feature made possible by AI.
- Create entirely new AI-driven products.
These combinations lead to nine categories of AI PM work, offering a wide range of specialization opportunities depending on your skills and interests (see infographic).
