This is the distribution of product management salaries in India:

We surveyed 1,019 of them

Associate Product Managers

| Median 4 Years of Work Experience

• At the low-end, APMs in small companies and low cost of living (LCOL) regions are earning 4 lakhs per annum (LPA)
• On the high-end, those working for global tech giants are earning 35+ LPA. A few outliers earned more than 50 LPA
• The median is 15 LPA ($18K USD)

Product Manager

| Median 4 Years of Work Experience

• The band, predictably gets much wider here. Some outliers reported up to 100 LPA
• The median also saw a good jump up to 26 LPA ($31K USD)
• This is the bifurcation effect: some Bangalore and US employers pay much better than the rest

Senior Product Managers

| Median 8 Years of Work Experience

• As experience grows, so does compensation. The median SPM doubles the median PM to 49 lakhs ($58K USD)
• Interestingly, in LCOL (low cost of living) locations, 25th percentiles SPMs are still earning 27 LPA
• High end SPMs are earning over 1 crore, mainly at big tech companies

Principal / Group Product Managers

| Median 13 Years of Work Experience

• This level sees a healthy chunk of folks (75th percentile+) earning over 1 crore
• But the low-end at the lower-revenue companies comes in at 62 LPA (25th percentile)
• Compared to other roles, this had one of the tighter overall compensation bands (62–95 IQR)

Product Directors

| Median 13 Years of Work Experience

• Although a similar amount of work experience, the compensation for this role is amongst the widest variance (61 to 133 IQR)
• The median did come in above Principal/ GPM at 88 LPA ($105K USD)
• The highest earners in this country, in big tech, earn as much as VPs and CPOs: 2 crore+

VPs of Product

| Median 15 Years of Work Experience

• The median does see a good jump up from Directors, to over 1 crore: 124 LPA, to be exact ($148K USD)
• But there are less of these roles in the big techs in India, so the higher end is more compact
• There are also some startup VPs earning more like 77 LPA (25th percentile) in LCOL areas

Chief Product Officers

| Median 18 Years of Work Experience

• At the top of the product ladder, compensation is a wide band (52 to 195 IQR)
• But your median CPO is earning 1.4 crore ($171K USD)
• And the high end stretches up to 2.4 crore
