Docs, Email, Dev Tasks, CRM

There’s now different options in every category.

I’ve been studying these products, and find them commonly grouped together.

The archetypes are:

A. Growing fast

B. Old and stodgy

C. Design-led challengers

It’s almost related to when your company started:

A. 2006–2016

B. Pre 2006

C. New

And there’s a reason for it.

↳ Team A is optimized for multiplayer:

It’s on the back of the PLG giants

↳ Team B is the enterprise default:

It’s based on the Microsoft and Salesforce juggernauts

↳ Team C are the new design-led challengers:

They’re fun to use, customizable, and new

I’ve recently seen a lot of older companies move to the younger tools.

  • If Word is stodgy and reminds you of high school…
  • Docs is refreshingly multiplayer…
  • And Notion is beautiful

And the same follows for the other tools. So it’s a great way to modernize your stack.

But, in reality, more companies are still moving the other way: from C to A to B.

As you age up, different functions began demanding more enterprise tools.

But those are just the averages…

What tools do you use?

Don’t know who Attio is?

They might be the newest kid on the block — a new CRM challenger.

I recently spoke with 9 customers of Attio and profiled them, as well as Notion earlier in the year.
